The Grantlas API

Send your Tracker, saved funders and grants, deadlines and saved searches to a spreadsheet, Airtable, your CRM, Zapier, Make, n8n or an AI agent like OpenClaw, for every client in your account.

Who can use it

Included in Grantlas Pro. Not on Solo or during the free trial. Anyone on your team can create a key, unless an owner has turned that off. Owners can revoke any key. Everyone else can revoke the keys they made.

What it can do

  • See your organizations (your clients, on Pro).
  • Read the Tracker, and add, update or remove items on it.
  • Read your saved funders and grants, and your upcoming deadlines.
  • Read your saved searches, and the new grants that match one since a date you choose.
  • Look up and search funders and grants, with each one's Fit for the organization.

It can't change your profile, exclusion rules or team, or download the Grantlas database.

Three ways to use it

  1. Keep a pipeline spreadsheet up to date. A Google Sheet that refreshes your Tracker every morning. Google Sheets recipe
  2. Get a message when a new grant matches. A Zapier, Make or n8n automation, or an AI agent like OpenClaw, checks a saved search each day and posts new matches to Slack or email. Zapier and Make recipe (n8n's HTTP Request node works the same way)
  3. Report to clients. Pull each client's Tracker and deadlines into the report you already send.

Get started

  1. Open API keys in Settings and choose Create API key.
  2. Name it so you'll recognize it, like “Airtable sync”. Leave Access on Read unless the tool needs to make changes. Then choose Read & Write.
  3. Copy the key. It's shown once. Keep it in a password manager, never in a web page or link.
  4. For your tech helper, to check it works (put your key in GRANTLAS_API_KEY first):
Check your key works
curl https://api.grantlas.com/v1/orgs \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $GRANTLAS_API_KEY"

Limits

Each key can make 60 requests a minute, and an account 10,000 every 24 hours. Searches return up to 25 results a page and stop at 200. Looking up funders and grants you haven't saved or tracked is limited to 1,000 every 24 hours; saved and tracked ones don't count. Fit analysis uses your plan's monthly analysis allowance, the same as the app.

Grantlas can't notify your tools of changes yet. Check on a schedule instead, using updated_since (Tracker) or since (new matches); the recipes show how.

Keeping keys safe

Anyone with a key can see your clients' Trackers. If a key might have leaked, revoke it in Settings; it stops at once. Keys also stop if the account leaves Pro or the person who made it leaves your team.
